The most popular area in the home is definitely the bathroom. Most people spend at least 1/2 an hour to an hour inside the bathroom each and every day. And if you have plenty of people in your home you already know that there always seems to be someone in the bathroom. The crazy thing is that often for a room that gets more use than just about any other room in your home it is also generally the smallest room in your home. Prior to deciding to redesign your bathroom, there's something you need to think about before you start.
The first thing you should look at is including a shower stall instead of a bathtub. It will always be few and far between when people use the bathtub to take a bath. Obviously if perhaps you have younger kids in the home this is probably not an option. If you have children that are over 12 years of age, then a shower is better. By adding a shower stall rather than a bathtub, you will add more room to your bathroom. And if you have a small bathroom in the first place, you will enjoy the added space.
If you are planning to replace your bathroom sink, be sure that you look for a light color. Dark-colored color sinks will really reveal water spots, hard water stains and also soap scum get noticed more. You end up cleaning up your bathroom sink more than once a day. So when deciding on a color for your sink, be sure that it will be light in color.
If you need to change the color scheme of your bathroom and you plan to get colored fixtures, be sure to get your fixtures before you remodel. Buying fixtures in various colors may be time consuming and usually will have to be ordered. But when you don't need elaborate fixtures, just get the white or off white ones. There are plenty of your regular white fixtures in any home improvement center. This can be good should you end up having to replace them down the road.
Whenever you add tile on your new shower stall, remember that you may need to hold out a few days so that the glue can dry. Although your bathroom may take a week to finish, you are going to still need to hold out a few more days for the tile to dry. Additionally, a conventional stall is a lot quicker to install than one that requires tiles.
Of course, one important thing should be to make sure that you have a bathroom to use when your real bathroom is being renovated.
