Pink Floyd began their biography in 1965 in Cambridge. This rock n' roll band survived a few fallouts from various quarters within their band. Regarding the biography of the band, it all began in Cambridge High when Barrett, Waters, and Gilmour decided to begin a band. It developed considerably during high school but soon after their graduation came the first split. The artists decided to go separate ways owing to the different career paths they individually wanted to follow. Gilmour went to art school in London, while Barrette went away to the countryside. Waters pursued his architectural career where he bumped into Nick Mason and Wright. These three formed the Sigma 6 and RnB band that sent only a short way. Some of their instrumentalists dropped out. Much later, Wright, Barrette Waters and Mason joined up to form another band, where Barrette took up the role of becoming the lead guitarist, the songwriter and the lead singer of the group. He then came up with the name of the group - Pink Floyd, named after Pinkey Anderson and Floyd Council.

Their biography took a different bend when under Barrette, the group went ahead to record their first album in 1966, which they named "Lucy Leave". This got some attention after doing a combination of RnB and pop. Their instrumental experiments were yet to be heard of in London at that time, and this got the attention of a few record houses. EMI was first to sign in with them as they released their first single "Arnold Layne". It was quick to be UK's top 20 as they also released "See Emily Play". They then released their first album in 1967. Though it did not feature their first two hits, it quickly became top 10 and had some popularity, as people would compare it to the Beatles' album back then. You can actually sample some of this music in Music Record Shop.

The artist life took a great toll on some of the band members like their lead singer Barrette, who was a heavy LSD user. His behavior during interviews and live shows was appalling, and this forced the other members to rehire Gilmour to take over the guitar. It seemed like a smart move since the new Pink Floyd became an even greater hit. "Dark Side of the Moon" was their best seller, currently featuring in Music Record Shop. These artists moved on to do other numerous albums like "Wish you were Here" and "Animals". You may want to visit Music Record Shop to check for their availability. Some of their detailed biographies are seen in these and other sites.
