Prestwold Hall is a stunning Grade I listed stately home. It is located in Prestwold which is just outside of Leicester in the county of Leicestershire in the heart of the English Midlands. The original Prestwold Hall was built during the middle years of the eighteenth century. The interior of the building features fine marbled Italian plasterwork. There is also an excellent collection of English and European furniture that dates from the eighteenth century and graces the stately home in a suitably grand and fitting way.
The stately home also houses an excellent collection of portraits that date from the time of the earliest owner of Prestwold Hall, Sir Christopher Packe. He was a Cromwellian Peer and a supporter and financial backer of Oliver Cromwell. Sir Christopher Packe was knighted when he was the Mayor of London.
The Packe family still lives at Prestwold Hall, and has done so for around three hundred and fifty years. The present family consists of Edward and Juliet Packe-Drury-Lowe and their children.
The grounds of Prestwold Hall feature parks, a farm, and an airfield which can accommodate light aircraft and helicopters. The buildings and the grounds of Prestwold Hall are managed by Edward, while Juliet is an accomplished sculptor who has her work in collections and exhibitions across the world.
Grade I listed status was awarded to Prestwold Hall in the year 1951. This was in recognition of its stunning historic architecture. The present day Prestwold Hall is the result of a comprehensive re-building exercise that was carried out by William Burn. He was a Scottish architect who pioneered the Scottish Baronial style of architecture. This is a gothic style of architecture that has been used in the design of many mansions, tower houses and castles.
These days, Prestwold Hall is a popular choice as the venue for all kinds of events. Companies often have team building events there. These events are often based around activities like archery, and human table football. Other activities used in team building are the riding of vehicles like quad bikes and chuckle buggies. Presentations and conferences can take place in a theatre style conference room that can accommodate up to one hundred delegates. After these activities, the participants can have lunch or dinner in the great hall where up to two hundred delegates can be accommodated.
Members of the public often book Prestwold Hall for civil weddings and wedding receptions. The venue provides a stunning backdrop for photographs and videos. It also forms a wonderful venue for the reception festivities. The whole place can be booked on an exclusive basis, so that the wedding party has the whole of the venue to themselves. Up to a hundred and seventy five guests can be catered for at a wedding breakfast with fine wines and excellent food. Civil wedding ceremonies can be held in the library of Prestwold Hall. There is even a Church of England church in the grounds, were weddings can be conducted.
Movie production companies and advertising agencies frequently use Prestwold Hall to shoot scenes for movies for the silver screen or promotional movies for TV advertisements or music videos to appear on MTV and similar TV channels.
